You Can Help

Grassroots Projects:
Disability Media Inc. announces a new program

We have learned about many efforts to provide support and assistance to persons with disabilities and their families. These efforts are not sponsored by the government or by large charitable organizations. They are initiated by well meaning individuals, local Church groups, or a group of persons who want to do something to help others. These grassroots initiatives come from the heart. They are meant to give assistance, or bring pleasure, or share something that their creators enjoy and want to pass on to persons who may not ever have the opportunity to experience. DMI applauds these grassroots efforts and wishes to help them achieve their goals.

We will help any grassroots effort to succeed that has a program which can assist persons with disabilities or their families. DMI offers small grants of from $100 to $250 to be used in the development and implementation of services. We believe that there are many persons who would like to help. We also believe that the involvement of persons with disabilities with others is the best way to insure that they have a normal social life and receive support for living independently in their communities. DMI wants to encourage a people to people approach that can promote the interaction of able bodied persons with persons with disabilities.

We will post articles about this project on our web site, www.disabilitymedia.org. If you wish additional information about how to apply for one of our grassroots grants, call Homer Page at 1-800-321-8708 or write to Disability Media Inc., P. O. 18982, Denver, Colorado, 80218.
